Dry Ice Blasting Process

Dry ice blasting & cleaning systems have been developed as a clean, safe alternative to hand scrubbing and solvent wiping, sand, bead, or soda blasting.

Dry ice blast cleaning is a process in which particles of solid carbon dioxide, commonly known as dry ice, are propelled at high velocity to impact and clean a surface.

Upon impact, the CO2 particles sublimate, return to their natural state as carbon dioxide gas, thus disappearing as they clean.

Although it is often compared to sand blasting, bead blasting, or soda
blasting, dry ice blasting actually cleans differently.

Traditional abrasive blasting methods clean through a chiseling action, much like using an ice pick, and often remove part of the substrate as they clean.

Dry ice, on the other hand, might better be compared to a spatula as it lifts away the surface contamination
without damaging the targeted surface.

Thus, dry ice cleaning can be used in critical environments where leaving grit or other surface contaminants can not be tolerated.

Dry ice blasting continues to be used in almost every sector of cleaning from delicate instruments to large manufacturing equipment.
how does dry ice blasting work

What is dry ice?

Dry ice is carbon dioxide in solid form. It is made from CO2 gas, which is derived from natural sources, and as a by-product of many industrial processes. Dry ice is very cold (minus 109.3 degrees Fahrenheit).
